Alcohol/Drug Use

 

Western Washington University is committed to an environment which is free of alcohol and other drug abuse and misuse.  It maintains this commitment in support of academic excellence, work performance, and quality of life as well as for the current and future wellbeing of all members of the University community.

Risks of Non-Compliance

The resources provided below are for the purpose to reduce the risks associated with drugs and alcohol use among students, faculty, and staff. Non-compliance can result in significant harm to individuals including, but not limited to, injury and death, suspension or termination from school or employment, jail or prison time, loss of wages, ineligibility for military or job opportunities, and loss of personal assets.

Primary Compliance Requirements

  • Adhere to state and federal laws regarding consumption, possession, and distribution of drugs and alcohol.
  • No use, possession, manufacturing, or distribution of marijuana on University property or University sponsored activities.
  • Follow written policy, standards, procedures, and codes of conduct to ensure appropriate and authorized use and handling of alcohol or drugs.
